One of the biggest concerns of Chief Information Officers (CIO) today is how to protect a company’s employees and customers from cyber attacks since IT security is always evolving.

Knowing the possible risks of data theft along with creating a tight security plan will help a company keep in line goals, costs, and resources in order to make the business grow.    

In a survey conducted by IT company Spiceworks in 2017, it showed that 53 percent of CIOs implement change in the boardroom with the help of IT specialists recommending the proper security protocols.

Malware and other cyber threats can be avoided by organizations with the help of essential security tools like anti-virus software, device management systems, and strong firewalls. These IT security tools are readily available online and once applied, it can protect a company’s network security for years.   

An upgraded firewall can command access to resources and only specific traffic can enter the network. This type of security protocol will safeguard a company’s computers from hackers and malware while knowing the difference between a trusted and malignant network.  

Firewalls can also expose illegal extraction of company data from a computer network. If the action doesn’t have the right authorization, the activity will be blocked immediately. Using password management tools can also help employees protect their individual computers from cyber threats, with the software automatically changing their passwords every three months.  

Investing in premium anti-virus software is also recommended because it can efficiently detect and destroy computer viruses such as Trojans and worms. In a recent Global State of Information Security Survey, it was reported that 53 percent of companies regularly conduct awareness and employee training seminars to improve the network security of the organization.
