Women of all ages love to play and experiment with new hairstyles. It mostly depends on what they’re feeling or what’s “in”. But, going to the salon can sometimes be a lot of work. The traffic and time you wait in the queue is a bummer. That’s why it comes conveniently when you know how to cut and style your own hair in the comfort of your own home. Especially if it’s just a simple change like a trim or bangs.

See through bangs

Bangs are very trendy right now. Especially in Asia where celebrities and TV characters are all sporting cute bangs. See through bangs in Korea are very in demand. It’s easy to do the see-through bangs. Just divide your bangs into three different sections-- two on the side and the main fringe in the middle. You then use your hair straightener and curl it inward rather than the normal straightening motion to create soft bangs that lay perfectly on your forehead.

Even with males, it’s easy to cut their bangs on their own, you just need a pair of scissors. Comb your hair like on a daily basis. Brush the bangs forward to where you want to. Spread and put the fingers of your non-dominant hand out on top of your forehead, keep your hand open but bring the fingers close together. Snip the ends of the bangs with the scissors pointing up and tipped at a 45-degree angle. Just trim between 3 to 5 cm at a time. Fluff the hair with your hands to remove small trimmings, then brush and style your hair once cutting is complete.

Comb your bangs forward.  To help you concentrate, tie the rest of the hair in a ponytail to let you focus on the bangs. The arch of your eyebrow is where your bangs should start. Section the beginning and end of your bangs. Basically, you have to create a soft rectangle-like shape of hair on your forehead. Hold your bangs and twist them. Do little cuts to avoid uneven and disastrous bangs. Comb the bangs, cut little portions again. Repeat until you reached your desired length.

Part your hair down the middle and imagine a triangle. The three points are the area of your left or right forehead, the area just above your pupil, and in your ear area. Side bangs are easier to cut but still needs precision. If the hair is wet, take note of your natural texture. Curly hair should be cut longer than desired because after cutting it tends to curl shortly. Wavy and straight hair is fine.

Twisting the bangs is a technique to cut it. Before twisting, always remember that it should be dry. Brush the bangs out and untangle the strands from each other. Use a round brush for curly hair, and a flat brush for straight hair. Twist the hair lightly without pulling. Then, hold the bangs in place. Cut carefully into small portions and shake the cut hair. Arrange the bangs with your fingers, and trim until desired length and style is achieved.

Tips for cutting bangs

In cutting your bangs, use proper hair cutting scissors, not the ones for crafting. Dry the hair first, to see how your natural hair falls on your forehead. Wet hair tends to stretch out the hair, so it's not good to cut it dripping wet. In cutting, take your time to do little snaps of trimming. Don’t cut it in one swift to avoid irreversible mistakes. Also, cut the bangs in an angle that best compliments the face. Soft edges are always “in” and soften the look of the bangs, making it cuter.
