Google is rolling out personalized suggestions on the local events search feature, which has been redesigned so that more event information can be displayed in the search results. The online search giant is making the feature available exclusively for mobile users, according to Sarah Perez, writing for techcrunch.

Local events is an area where Google has a lot of catching up to do to be on the same level as Facebook. As many as 100 million people use Facebook Events daily while 650 million people have been using it across its network, the social media giant said. Such numbers no doubt have increased since Facebook made the announcement.

The events search results will have a new format, appearing as cards instead of the standard search results. Each card will have a little bookmark icon that users can click to save the event details for future reference.

Tapping one of the cards will bring users to a page that offers information on the date, time, and location of the event, how much tickets cost and directions on how to get to the event. The cards are similar to a Facebook event page minus the discussion section.

When users click the “Get tickets” button, they will be shown a window with links to ticket resellers, such as Ticketmaster or StubHub. As users click and save the events, the system will become familiar with the events that users like. It will make personalized suggestions, a new feature that is found in the bottom navigation bar’s “For You” tab, which organizes suggested events into categories, such as concerts, festivals, shows, and free events. Trending and popular events will also be found in this area.
