I always saw the phrase " body of Christ" to mean the active physical elements of God's presence. God can only touch, hug or kiss someone through you. He has no other means for it.

I remember in a conference I heard God clearly telling me to go hug a certain person, it was really awkward, but as God's voice was so clear and commanding I did it anyways. After prayer time ended, this guy came to me and asked me: " Why did you hug me?" I answered: "God told me to." He stood there with a dropped jaw for a minute and then answered: " I was praying to God that if He was for real that He should reveal Himself to me by a touch."

You see you are God's hands, arms, legs, eyes, ears, and sometimes mouths. He is the head, the brain of it all, but you are the active parts. If you don't do the works of the head the body is called paralyzed.
Now I know you all do that, you are functional in the kingdom of God, you are not paralyzed. But as a sports coach for me just functional is not enough.

I dream of a fit body of Christ a body that would be able to take on challenges and win championships. This would only come through hard work and discipline. And today I want to challenge you and myself to develop one aspect of our spiritual fitness.
John in his first epistle talks about love as being the substance of the kingdom, for eventually God Himself is love.

So the challenge I want to give us today is to show/ give love to people in ways that we are not comfortable with. Most of us are able and active showing love in a certain way or ways. Mine, for example, are body language and quality time. Usually we tend to be content with one or two of those was to communicate love. I used to think that we are fine, it's just me and how I was built. Until I realized that it's not.

It's just how the world is robbing us of our inheritance. For example I came to realize that I used to practice giving love through giving gifts. But I can't remember anytime that I gave gifts that I wasn't disappointed or hurt after. This dent the world put on me made me try and resort to other ways to showing love. Lately I caught myself loosing one of my strongest language of love ( quality time). I realized that the reason for that was because I am coming to realize that my days are becoming increasingly easier to number, that I felt I needed to "do" more.

That's exactly how Kohn puts it in his epistle. The opposite of love is not hate. The opposite if love is fear. For "... whoever fears have not been perfected in love" ( 1John 4:18) ESV.
And it's the fear this world gives us that tries to rob us of our love. Both the love we receive from Him and the love we give into the world.

So here is my challenge for the next couple of weeks. I want us to show love to people around us in ways we are not comfortable with that maybe we never tried before, or in ways that we used to be good at but fear is starting to take away from us.

If this is hard for you, there is only one place to go, the bosom of Jesus. Cause when you het perfected in His love, i.e. receiving His perfect love for you and accepting that. It would be then that you would be able to give out love that you never had before.

I pray that you will always remain in the bosom of Jesus and ravel in His love.
