(Rose was cleared of any wrongdoing) Derrick Rose has had an adventurous career, to say the least, and his latest trek may very well end up being the most fruitful.

Rose has reportedly been traded from the New York Knicks to one of the league's top contenders, the Cleveland Cavaliers.  An anonymous source says the deal is worth only $2.1 million for one year.  However, the deal is yet to be made official.

Rose has had a history battling injury after injury, mainly the knees, after his MVP season some years ago.  His market value out in the free agent market didn’t prove to be very high, however, after courting and being courted by several teams including the LA Lakers.  Rose seems to have found a home with the Cavaliers, since making this move has become more significant now that Kyrie Irving, Cleveland’s current go-to guard, has requested a trade.

This move makes sense for all parties involved.  On one hand, you have the Cavs who now are in desperate need for a capable point guard with the ability to keep up with the aforementioned best player in the world The Cavs are in need of a capable point guard to go against the formidable Lebron James, while not exerting themselves financially.  For Derrick Rose, this could be a place to make a resurgence and possibly salvage an otherwise disappointing career with winning a championship or two.  In Cleveland, Rose’s injury-worn body won’t have to carry too heavy a load with James and the rest of the 2016-2017 NBA runners-up.

The Cavs have not officially commented on the Kyrie Irving situation and what they will do with his trade request; however, it seems Irving isn’t happy playing second fiddle to James in spite of being a huge part of the teams’ three straight Finals appearances, including one championship.

Last season with the Knicks, Rose averaged 18 points and 4.4 assists a game while shooting 47.1 percent from the field, his best statistical season in years.  There was even talk before the season began of the Knicks being the next “Superteam” after acquiring Rose to complement Carmelo Anthony and friends, with Phil Jackson running the show. However, Rose’s off-season legal issue (Rose was eventually cleared of any wrongdoing.) which forced him to miss most of training camp had a big impact in the way the team gelled together, so the Knicks never really got off the ground and basically imploded during the season.

So, the questions abound in what the future holds for both the Cleveland Cavaliers and Derrick Rose.
