On New Year’s Eve, expect the “Oracle of Omaha” to sing a 111-year-old song as a tribute to a respected and admired figure at the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), reported CNBC.

James “Jimmy” Maguire Sr., died at his home in Short Hills, New Jersey, on August 21, according to an obituary posted by Bradley Smith & Smith Funeral Home on its website.  The cause of his death was not indicated.

Maguire was 86, the same age as his friend, Warren Buffett.

In a letter composed by Buffett, the billionaire investor and philanthropist briefly narrated how his business and personal relationship with Maguire developed and made them “the best of friends.”

Back in the 80s,  Buffet picked him to be Berkshire’s specialist.

He recalled Maguire giving him “elaborate lectures” during the company’s annual meetings, where they “would have a blast.”

Buffet regarded him both as the “World's Greatest Specialist” and, on a more personal note, the “world’s greatest guy.”

“Jimmy was an original and his passing leaves a big hole in the heart of everyone who knew him,” he continued.

“I’ll be singing ‘Wait till the Sun Shines, Nellie’ on New Year's Eve in his memory.”

News correspondent Bob Pisani, the author of the CNBC article that included Buffet's letter, admitted that he personally experienced Maguire’s “legendary” kindness.

Aside from introducing him to Buffet, Maguire allowed Pisani to observe him trade Berkshire shares.

“We used to call him ‘The Chief,’” said Arthur “Art” Cashin, Maguire’s friend, who is UBS’s Director of Floor Operations and a highly-esteemed NYSE floor trader like him.

“He always knew the answer to everything.”

In 2012, a few days before he celebrated his 82nd birthday, Maguire retired after carving a flourishing career at Wall Street that spanned more than 60 years, according to Business Insider.

He was married for 56 years to Diane, who bore him six children.
